Over the past several years, significant strides have
been made in reducing the rate of dog and cat euthanasia
all across the nation. Home At Last Rescue (HAL) plays an
active role in this "no-kill" movement by rescuing animals
from city shelters, providing temporary foster care, and
bringing these animals to the public for placement in
high-quality, loving homes. Historically, HAL has operated
primarily in the Berkeley area and has been instrumental
in lowering the euthanasia rate in the Berkeley municipal
shelter from over 60% three years ago, to under 20% this
past year.
HAL is now working to replicate this success by expanding
efforts to other East Bay communities. We have recently
begun rescuing animals in Pinole and Martinez, and we have
stepped up our efforts in Oakland and Alameda as well. We
are extremely excited about the opportunity to make a
bigger difference and would like to extend our heartfelt
gratitude to all of you who support us through your
volunteer efforts, participation in our foster care
program, and generous contributions. We truly could not do
this without you.

Millions of cats and dogs are killed at municipal shelters
each year. We rescue as many as we can from these shelters
and then provide the animals with housing, socialization,
rehabilitation and medical care. Once the animals are
adoptable, we hold adoption events to find our animals
loving, permanent homes. |

These wonderful animals are looking for
loving humans to call their own! All of our cats have tested
negative for FeL (feline leukemia) and are current on their
vaccinations. Our dogs have received their 7-way, rabies
vaccinations, and have undergone social training. We spay or
neuter ALL of our kittens, cats, and dogs before making them
available for adoption. |

In addition to our healthy and friendly animals, we also
have those with special conditions that require some extra
love and attention! We have cats that are FIV-positive but
asymptomatic. There are some older cats who also need loving
humans to care for them in their middle and twilight years.
Almost all of these older cats were abandoned by their
previous owners. We also have cats and dogs that are in need
of extra socialization. If you would like to help save the
life of a cat or dog who is a bit harder to place, but worth
the effort, please don't hesitate to contact
us! |
|
Since we are looking for loving and responsible homes for
our animals, we are willing to go the extra mile by
arranging for appointments in the home for adopters to view
our cats, kittens, and dogs. We are even willing to bring
the animal that you adopt toyou anywhere in the Bay
Area of San Francisco! We also hold weekly Mobile Adoption Events in the
Berkeley area.
Please keep in mind that we are a non-profit organization
and that your donation will not only enable us to save more
animals, it's also fully tax-deductible. We kindly ask for
your support even if you are unable to adopt at this time.
Home at Last gratefully accepts all donations.

Our organization needs your support! We rescue many animals
with special conditions who would be put to sleep if it
weren't for Home at Last. We operate on a very small budget,
and rely on your donations to keep going. Please open your
heart and and contribute to this great cause. There are
several ways to contribute. You may donate an item that is
on our wishlist, you may
send a check or money order to Home at
Last, or you may donate through an online, secure
service. Take a look at some of our adoption Success Stories to see
how your donations and help make a difference! |
