This young (2 yr old) girl is bouncy, energetic, goofy, super playful and full of
unsurpressed wriggles! Quite a surprise considering she was not treated well
(especially by males), used as a breeder dog and abandoned in a shelter night box
right after giving birth. She’s come a long way from the sad, frightened, shut-down dog
volunteers first saw.
Misty is also incredibly intelligent, highly attuned to her person’s emotions and always
eager for a challenge. Her basic set of commands are sit, stay, lie down, give paw,
kiss-kiss and “treat time!” (she sits automatically for the last command).
She would have too much fun chasing smaller animals if allowed, but she responds
well to correction while walking and does walk very nicely on leash.
She also takes treats with a soft mouth (no snatching) but, having
been too hungry in her past, likes to keep the goodies away from other slobbery doggies!
Misty has walked in groups with familiar dogs and played enthusiastically
with her special “boyfriend” but she can be rude to strange dogs so
she could use more training to learn proper doggie etiquette.
Since she has never had her own home and toys she would probably
be most happy in a home where she does not feel that she needs to
compete for security with another dog.
Misty would be a fantastic companion for an experienced dog guardian who loves to hike or
jog, go on trips (she rides and naps beautifully in the car), appreciates woods and beaches and the
unending affection of a funny, quirky, cuddly and warm little rascal.
We are looking for someone who can provide Misty with the foster or forever home that she so richly deserves so she can move beyond her
unfortunate past and into a bright new future.
