Sonny turned up at the Berkeley shelter over 5 years ago. he spent many many months
there until a small rescue group took him on. He was basically moved from one cage to
another - where he spent a year in boarding at a vet clinic. He has now spent the last
3 years in a busy foster home- with too many animals and not enough human beings. He
lives in a separate sparse room with his best buddy, Abbie ( a sweet deaf Pit bull).
His life is this room and the back yard. He gets attention when there is time.
So life for Sonny has not been fair. All he longs for is a human to love and cherish
him. He longs for a warm bed beside his person. He longs for every day walks. He longs
for someone to play fetch with him. Sonny needs either a new foster situation or
permanent home by the end of May. If these new accommodations can't be made, then Sonny
may need to go live in a big cage at a sancutary, which would surely be a suboptimal
situation for Sonny. Sonny deserves the very best especially as he goes into the
final period of his life. He has waited so patiently all of these years. Wherever
he goes to from here should be better (especially as HAL's longest term dog).
This sweet, undemanding dog really, really needs and should have his own
special home. Please spread the word about this dear soul.
Sonny is a nice size- about 45 pounds. He loves people and he loves his walks!
He does well with many dogs, especially females. but he needs more training to
become more dog social. He is not good with cats.
Sonny comes with 2 free training sessions by a local professional dog trainer! She adores this dog and will do anything to
support him.
